Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the factors associated with the intention to job continuity and future job types for aging of baby boomers. To achieve this goal, survey was carried out for 2,910 baby boomers who born between 1946 and 1955 and who had participated in labor force at least once. We included demographic factors, economic transfer factors, labor force participation factors, and preparation for aging factors in our research model and the binary logit model and the mulitinomial logit model were used to predict the intention to job continuity and future job types respectively. The results of this study are as follows: First, gender, self-assessed health condition, the number of family members, household income, the current labor force participation, the types of occupation, and extent to coverage of the National Health Insurance were significantly associated with the intention to job continuity. Second, there were some differences among job types which baby boomers prefer in late life, and theses differences derived from gender, age, education, household income, economic transfer from baby boomers to their adult children, the types of occupation and the status of workers. These findings will be useful to policy makers and service providers for improving the current policies and services for baby boomers and the elderly.
